Executive Music Therapy Health Check up for the Wandering Monk! - Margazhi 2018

Having come from Delhi to Chennai Margazhi, i decided to do an executive music therapy and consulted different 'resident doctors', specialists, super specialists etc located in different Sabhas.

My music therapy began at Krishna Gana Sabha on 24th December with 'a detailed examination' by Pandit Ronu Majumdar who is arguably the best Lungs and Breath specialist. He decided immediately on 'checking' me that i should first be de-toxicated as I have come from a highly polluted Delhi. He breathed melody of his magic flute for two hours and i felt as if i am surrounded by Air Purifier. At the end of the session he gave me a hug to certify that i am purified.

My next visit was to Partha Sarathy Swami Sabha where a Fulbright ( fully bright ) GP by name Sikkil Gurucharan took me right under his nose . I was seated by him in the front row and the session of 150 minutes was rejuvenating. He also took help from a very senior Consultant DrTrichy Shankaran. The voice of Gurucharan and the Naad of Shankaran Sir’s mridangam did wonders to me. To ensure i don’t run away in between, Gurucharan had asked a family member seated next to me to ensure my rapt attention to the treatment. I felt light and almost floating on the wings of Gurucharan’s mellifluous melody.

As life has conflicts and violence I needed a Violin treatment to make me nonviolent. I was directed to attend a special Morning clinic on X'mas day which is the only opportunity to be treated by a Professor (of Internal Med). Attend a glorious session of violin by Prof T N Krishnan sir at the end of which I became nonviolent for rest my life.

My next visit was to Academy where a brilliant young ‘Doctor’ known to be creating musical waves accepted me despite a very tight schedule because I happened to know him well. The music academy was hosting him on a very very prestigious slot and he treated me with Muthuswamy Dikshitar ‘s composition composed in scholarly Sanskrit and rendered with dexterous felicity. I went home that day feeling like I know Arabic which is read from right to left. I read my age as 17 and felt I am 17.

My next ‘treatment ‘ was like a mandatory physio therapy to relax all my 650 skeletal muscles in my body. Some Anatomy Experts put the figure as 840. I was told that if I want comprehensive massage for all the 840 muscles I should be at the OPD of Academy on the day Sanjay Subramanian performs. All I have to do is to be among the crowd in the compound for phase 1 massage, be in the corridor to locate the Gate mentioned in the ticket amidst the sea of people as Phase 2 and drift my way into the hall as Phase 3. I did all that. This is a well designed process of giving attention to all the muscles.

My next stop was revisit to Academy with all my muscles relaxed (and in tact too after Sanjay Day) so I can switch from physical to mental 'treatment'. The only super specialist for this task is the Oscar Nominee Dr Bombay Jayashri. This is at last a treat for the soul. However as i realised that my greed level (like blood sugar) is very high, the kind Doctor went out of the way to give another appointment at Narada Gana Sabha on 30th December. It was very special treatment that not only benefited my physical and mental health but also the health of the SOUL.

My diet needs were taken care of by visit to various Sabha canteen for sumptuous, albeit pricey, variety of foods. None of the Specialists I went to as above had recommended frugal eating so I could splurge. My prescription included a few sessions of Yoga Nidra which was adequately met by attending the afternoon sessions in the well air conditioned sparingly populated after noon sessions at Music academy. It is also facile place for collective sleeping or sat sang siesta as the few people present have Nidra as their objective. Some people seem to have perfected the art of sleeping with Sruti sync nods of head as if they were appreciating the music on the stage.

Moksh experience for me was reserved for the exquisite occasion of legend Violin maestro Prof T N Krishnan and Smt Kamala Ammaji's Kanakabishek function on 30th Dec to celebrate 90 th Birth Day of the living legend Krishnan Mama. It was very spiritual and the blessings I got from them when I offered my Charan Sparsh with Aananda Bhashpam drops from my eyes on their lotus feet can not be described. My life became enriched as I bowed to the resplendent divine couple Parameswar Parvathy.
