June 21st is the International Day of Yoga.It happens to be the World Music Day too.Is it merely a coincidence!
This day, seems to be perfect to have a look at this.
The Music in Bhaaratham (India) is not merely about the outer sound, but about the beauty of Naada. It is the union of Aahatha (the external Music) with Anaahatha (the sound of the celestial realm). While the former is sensed through ears, the latter is beyond the normal sensory organ. As per the Hindu culture, Anahata Chakra, the fourth primary chakra, acts as the centre for this sense. Usually, the sound is produced by the confrontation of two opposite forces where as the inner sound arises due to the amalgamation.
The Saints of Bhaaratham (India) were well aware of this fact and they practiced the Music for the attainment of Nirvaana. Sree Thyagaraja Swami, the forerunner among the Trinities of Carnatic Music, had mentioned the greatness of Naada in many of Thy Divine Compositions. Thy Kruthi “Naada loludai…” in raga Kalyaana Vasantam is a perfect example for this.
Sree Thyagaraja Swami says, “nAdalOluDai brahmAnandamandavE manasA” (O Mind! become immersed in Naada and bring about the interminable ecstasy). In the anupallavi (second stanza) Swami says, “svAdu phalaprada sapta svara rAga nichaya sahita” (Attain the righteous desires by the total commitment in that music through myriad ragas shaped by the treatment of the seven musical notes).
Further, in Charanam, Swami says, “hariharAtma bhUsurapati sharajanma gaNEshAdi,
vara maunulu pAsincarE dhara tyAgarAju teliyu” (Be aware that even the Trinities along with Indra, Ganesha and Subrahmanya and other great ones had meditated upon the Naada. Thyagaraja is aware of this).
Like this one can see many examples in which the Saints of supreme consciousness underlining the greatness of Naada. Hindu Sacred scriptures like 'Nadabindu Upanishad' ('Amrita Nada Bindu Upanishad'), one of twenty Yoga Upanishads in the four Vedas, clearly says about the Naada Yoga.
History says it was the ‘FĂȘte de la Musique’ (Paris) in 1982 that lead the way to the World Music Day. Later the vibrations of June 21st was spread world wide. Much later, in 2015, United Nations had declared 21st June as the International Day of Yoga. It might seem to be a coincidence. But, is it really..?! Or were there any Elevated Spirits beyond the normal sensory organs who wanted to blend the energy of the World Music Day with the power of Yoga! Day that the Music perfectly blends into Yoga. Naada Yoga…!!!
