The capture seems to be a real treat for the senses with the beautiful color combination and great lighting, moreover a perfect budding smile.

SRI. PARSHWANATH UPADHYE



A versatile Indian classical dancer, ‘Natya Mayura’ ; ‘Natya Keerthi’ awardee,Parshwanath Upadhye has carved out a niche for himself today as one of the most sought-after male dancers in the country.

He is a Winner of eight national awards, an empanelled artist of the ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) and an ‘A grade’ artist of the Bangalore Doordarshan Kendra, Parshwanath’s prowess in the field of dance is extensive.



Parshwanath completed his Arangetram, Vidwath and Alankaar Exams under the able guidance and tutelage of Guru Shri Ravindra Sharma in the traditional Mysore style of Bharathanatyam.

He continues his learning and exploring of the art form under internationally acclaimed dancer duo, Shri Kiran Subramanyam and Smt.Sandhya Kiran alongside working with many reputed dance companies in India and abroad. He has a black belt in Karate, is a state level swimmer as well as a trained carnatic vocalist and holds a Master of Arts degree in Kannada Literature from Karnataka University.

Pollachi Tamil Isai Sangam annual dance fest

A s a part of 33rd annual dance festival by the Pollachi Tamil Isai Sangam, a group of Mohiniyattam dancers from Upaasna akademy of fine arts of Mumbai led by Smt. Sujatha Nair presented a few selected Mohiniyattam items on Sunday 12th August 2018 at the KKG Thirumana mandapa auditorium. Starting with an item in praise of the one tusked Vigneswara they presented a Varnam in ragam Simhendra Madyamam depicting few scenes from Ramayanam like Ahalya moksham, Seeta Swayamvaram and Sabarai Darshanam. While Sujatha Nair did a solo presentation of an ashtapadi from Gitagovindam. The group also presented an item in Ragamaalika, recreating the Vrindavana leelas of Lord Srikrushna. All the items were choreographed by Smt. Jayashree Nair, founder director of Upaasana. Jayashree Nair and her students were felicitated by the Sangam secretary Sri G D Gopalakrishnan.

Fourth WOCUE RasaNavam is announced

T his time, while considering the fourth WOCUE rasanavam – something special captures, we wondered if any one could have taken their eyes away from the beauty of the brush strokes by the sun on this little green globe, amazingly captured by Sri Kundan De with his lense. Arupa Lahiri , the renowned dancer, underlines her name (literally means without form, which really is the ultimate form of beauty) with her presence- that is perfectly in tune with the nature! Her expression creates life over the broken wood on the right. The colors in the frame, let it be the nature or the costume, seems interwoven, even the contrast ones. DLit. for Gopi Aasaan, Prof. M.K.Sanu, Dr. N.V.P. Unithiri

S ree Sankara Samskritham University, Keralam will be conferring Dlit. for the renowned Kathakali exponent Pathmasree Kalamandalam Gopi, writer Prof. MK.Sanu, Samskritham scholar Prof. NVP Unithiri for the lifetime contribution in their respective fields. Vadakke Manalath Govindan Nair, popularly known as Kalamandalam Gopi (Gopi Aasaan), is a Legendary figure in Kathakali. Though he is famous for his 'Pacha Veshams' like Nalan, Karnan, he had portrayed his expertise in characters Arjuna (Subhadraharanam), Yudhishthira (Kirmeeravadham) etc too. Prayers through Music, Dr. Bombay Jayashri

S adguru Sainath attained Samadhi on Vijaya Dashami day exactly 100 years ago . In relation to this on 18th Oct. 2018, Vidushi Dr. Bombay will offer the prayers through Music. In August 1918, Shirdi Sai Baba told some of his devotees that he would soon be "leaving his mortal body" . Towards the end of September, he stopped eating. As his condition deteriorated, he asked his disciples to recite holy texts to him and continued to meet visitors. On 15th October 1918, he breathed his last. This year on 18th October 2018, the thithi of Dasami comes after mid day as per Hindu lunar astronomy. Hence Sai Temple all over observe 18th October as Samadhi Centenary.

Nrtya Techniques in Mohiniyattam; book released

R enowned 'Mizhavu' artist and Guru - Padmashri P.K. Narayanan Nambiar released a book ( Malayalam ) - 'Nrthya Sankethangal Mohiniyattathil' written by Dr. Geetha Sivakumar at Palakkad, Keralam. Over the years, different 'Baanis' or 'Traditions' had contributed a lot in the nourishment of Mohiniyattam. This book -'Nrtya Sankethangal Mohiniyattathil' focuses on 'Kalamandalam baani'.   ”Mohiniyattam, a lyrical dance form of Kerala, has a well structured 'prayoga' style in Kerala Kalamandalam Kalaries. The color of her costume is well blended into atmosphere of the stones on the Temple structure in the background. Third studio show at Sarani, Whitefield

S arani’s third studio showing showcased two dance forms, Mayurbhanj Chhau by Sri Aditya Srivastava, a student of Guru Sri Janmajaya Sai Babu and Odissi duet by the mother-daughter duo, Smt. Sonalika Purohit and Kum. Srinika Purohit. Sri Aditya Srivastava began his peformance with a dance descriptive of Shiva and then moved onto one where he showcased the elements of martial art techniques that are so much part of Chhau.
